// Regional Players

The Capital Region has already produced some of Australia’s greatest players – past and present.

The Australian Institute of Sport is based in Canberra. Mark Viduka, Vince Grella, Lucas Neill,
Brett Emerton and Jason Culina are just some of the many players who spent their apprenticeship in Canberra at the AIS.  The AIS continue to produce players to play in the top leagues in Italy, England, Croatia, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Holland and beyond.

Amy Chapman“Hi guys, great to hear the news of the A-League bid for Canberra and the New South Wales region. I grew up in Albury playing for my club Albury Hotspurs. I know there’ll be a lot of interest from across Albury/Wodonga and right across Southern New South Wales as we love our football.

We’ve had some great players including Sally Shipard (from Wagga) and current Socceroos Josh Kennedy and Archie Thompson both are important football players from our region.

With the W-League about to start, getting an A-League side in Canberra would be fantastic. So join me and sign-up as soon as possible.”
