What if the bid fails?

We’re pretty confident it won’t. In the unlikely chance that it does, your money will simply be refunded. All money collected from Foundation Members is held in a Trust account until such time as we are given an official go ahead by the FFA, so it cannot be spent prior to the creation of a team.

Why would I spend $200 on a team that doesn’t exist?

Because if you don’t, you won’t get a team to support. Besides if you are passionate about having a local team then you’ll realise the benefits detailed above far outweigh the cost.

Even if we do get a team in, what will stop it from becoming another Cosmos and collapsing?

The strict financial start-up requirements laid down by the FFA ensure the long-term financial viability of a Canberra/Region team. The Canberra A-League bid has already demonstrated the required investment levels and so now it is up to us to show community support. More importantly the recent Socceroos and Matildas success at FIFA World Cups have changed the sporting landscape forever.

What makes you think you’ll get 5000 when you don’t even have 1000 yet?

The number of members we currently have is a fantastic start. We achieved that number in just over a month, while we were still starting our promotional campaign. We have a few things lined up between now and December to help promote the bid and create the kind of supporters atmosphere that we can get used to once we have a team. These include:

• The release of Corporate Foundation Membership Supporters Packages
• An information night for the community hosted by some prominent Australian sporting people
• A supporters trip to Sydney to an A-League match with all Canberra fans in matching shirts to get some attention to our bid.
