// About the BidA-League4Canberra is a Canberra based consortium led by Ivan Slavich, determined to apply for and receive a license to compete in the Hyundai A-League, commencing in the 2010-11 season. The first formal step in this process was to present an application to the A-League License Review Committee in August 2008. Canberra is one of four bids being presented to Football Federation Australia for two available licenses, but is strongly positioned to succeed and has support from the highest levels within Football Federation Australia. If Canberra is unsuccessful in this round of license applications, it is unlikely there will be another opportunity for 10 years or more. If we are serious about the Capital Region having a team in the Hyundai A-League we need to act NOW!A successful bid will require a demonstrated commitment from the business and Government sectors within the ACT. The consortium requires $6m up-front to satisfy the requirements of Football Federation Australia and currently has a commitment of funding from Canberra businesses. To be financially viable an A-League team also needs approximately $6m revenue per annum on an on-going basis. The ACT Government has committed $2.5 million to help get our team started and will also be providing ongoing support. We have a number of investors already committed and now we are calling on the local community to show that we have the local support to maintain a Capital Region A-League team. So get on board and show your support! |
